To the Cuban authorities
The Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność still remembers the support provided to them by the trade unions around the world during the harsh times of repression.
At that time, the members of Solidarity were accused of pursuing a hostile political activity against the country and under this pretext they were tried and sentenced to prison. Four years ago many activists of Cuban independent trade unions were sentenced to 18 - 24 years in prison.
On behalf of the Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarność I express our solidarity with all oppressed Cuban trade unionists. I expect their immediate release, enabling them free and unrestricted activity in the unions.
