This is the sixth documentary of the series COVERING CUBA.  The first COVERING CUBA was released in 1995, followed by COVERING CUBA 2: The Next Generation in2000, COVERING CUBA 3: Elian in 2002, COVERING CUBA 4: The Rats Below in 2004, COVERING CUBA 5: Act of Repudiation in 2007 and now COVERING CUBA 6: CURACAO

In this documentary two exploited, highly skilled workers tell the story of their nightmare repairing ships and their escape to freedom.  They were assigned the most dangerous jobs for up to 16 hours a day for a meager salary of about US$16 a month.  In violation of the U.S. embargo, they were assigned to work repairing U.S. ships.  They were punished if they had an accident and were denied medical care.  “CURACAO" is the shocking story of the Castro regime’s blatant abuse of Cuba’s labor force for almost 50 years.  All international norms and labor standards are being violated to the extreme by supplying cheap Cuban workers to other countries – including Europe – keeping them in slave-like conditions.  This documentary exposes the fate of 100 Cuban “slaves” sent to work at the docks in the Caribbean Dutch island of Curacao with the collaboration of the government of that island.
